Greenwich Christmas Market
Greenwich's covered market at Christmas — the switch-on is confirmed for 18 November; Christmas trading dates still to come.
The organiser has not yet confirmed this year's dates, and the dates circulating online are either estimates or carried over from a previous year — so we are not publishing them as fact. Reported to begin trading for Christmas on 19 November and run into early January, but Greenwich Market has only confirmed its lantern parade and switch-on (18 November) so far.

- Greenwich Market, London SE10 9HZ
Greenwich Market is one of London’s oldest covered markets, trading under a Victorian iron-and-glass roof in the middle of Maritime Greenwich. It trades all year, and from mid-November it takes on a full Christmas character, with decorations, seasonal food and drink and a stronger line in gifts.
What’s confirmed, and what isn’t
Greenwich Market has confirmed its Lantern Parade and Christmas Lights Switch-On for Wednesday 18 November 2026. Its Christmas trading period has been reported as beginning the next day and running into early January, closing on Christmas Day — but the market has not yet published those details, so we are not listing them as dates yet.
What to expect
Crafts, independent makers, vintage and antiques on selected days, and a lot of street food, all under cover — a real advantage over outdoor markets on a wet London afternoon. It is smaller and more relaxed than the big central London Christmas markets.
Getting there
Cutty Sark DLR station is two minutes’ walk away; Greenwich mainline station is a little further. The Thames Clippers river bus to Greenwich Pier is the most enjoyable way to arrive.
Make a day of it
The Cutty Sark, the Old Royal Naval College and its Painted Hall, the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory are all within ten minutes’ walk — together they make up a World Heritage Site.
When will we know?
We are checking the official source weekly and will update this page the day the dates are confirmed. In the meantime, our What’s open? tool shows the markets that have confirmed dates for any day you’re travelling.
When the dates are confirmed, dress for standing still outdoors in the cold — see our guide to what to wear.
