The Windsor Christmas Fair is a different thing from the town-square markets elsewhere on this site. It is a ticketed, indoor-and-out shopping fair at Royal Windsor Racecourse, with around 150 exhibitors of arts and crafts, fashion and design, and food and drink. It is aimed squarely at people who want to get a lot of Christmas shopping done in one go.
One weekend
For 2026 it runs on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, from 10am to 4pm each day, with last entry at 3.30pm.
Tickets
Adult tickets are £6 and concessions £5. Under-18s go in without a ticket. Booking in advance is sensible for the Saturday, which is the busier of the two days.
What to expect
Because it is curated rather than a street market, the quality of stallholders is generally high and the range wider than a typical chalet market — designer-makers, independent fashion, homeware and speciality food and drink producers. Come with a present list rather than for mulled wine and atmosphere.
Getting there
The racecourse is on Maidenhead Road to the west of Windsor town centre, beside the Thames. There is parking on site. Windsor has two stations, Windsor & Eton Central and Windsor & Eton Riverside, but both are some distance from the racecourse, so allow for a taxi or a longer walk if you come by train.
Make a day of it
Windsor Castle, the oldest occupied castle in the world, is in the town centre and decorated for the season, with its own Christmas events. Eton is across the bridge, and Windsor Great Park — including the Long Walk up to the castle — is excellent in crisp winter weather.
Planning your visit
The fair is at its busiest late on Saturday morning, when the car park and the main halls fill up. Arriving at opening time on either day, or coming on the Sunday afternoon, makes for a much calmer visit. Bring a bag — many exhibitors are small makers without large carrier bags — and cash as a back-up, although most stalls take cards. If you are combining the fair with a visit to the town, allow time for the drive or taxi between the racecourse and the centre; they are not within easy walking distance of each other in December weather.
