Exeter’s market takes over Cathedral Green, with the west front of the cathedral as a backdrop and the Royal Clarence and the old timbered buildings around the close closing in the rest. It is strongly weighted to South West producers — Devon cheese, cider, chocolate, ceramics and textiles — and the cathedral runs its own carol programme alongside. Worth pairing with a walk down to the quayside.
