Coventry Christmas Market

Coventry’s Christmas market sets up in Broadgate, the square at the centre of the city, usually alongside a big wheel and a programme of family events. It is a mid-sized city market with a strong local flavour, and Broadgate — where the statue of Lady Godiva stands — makes a natural focal point.

Why there are no dates here yet

The dates you will find online for Coventry’s market — Friday 21 November to Sunday 4 January — are last season’s. 21 November was a Friday in 2025; in 2026 it is a Saturday. Coventry City Council has not yet published the 2026 programme, so rather than repeat last year’s dates under this year’s heading, we are waiting for the announcement.

What to expect

Based on recent years: stalls selling seasonal food, drink and gifts, a big wheel with views over the city and the cathedral ruins, and a one-day family festival in the city centre near the start of the season.

Getting there

Coventry station is about fifteen minutes’ walk from Broadgate, with fast trains from London Euston and Birmingham. The city centre is compact and pedestrianised around Broadgate.

Make a day of it

The ruins of the old cathedral, destroyed in the Blitz in 1940, stand beside Basil Spence’s modern cathedral, consecrated in 1962 — one of the most moving pairings of buildings in Britain. The Herbert Art Gallery and the Coventry Transport Museum are both free and a short walk from Broadgate.
