The dates below have been reported for this year and fit the calendar, but we have not yet been able to confirm them with the organiser or an official source. Reported as Friday 18 and Saturday 19 December 2026, which fits the calendar; another source gives Friday 19 and Saturday 20 December, which are 2025's weekdays. No official listing yet.

Shrewsbury’s Christmas market is a short affair held in The Square, the historic heart of the town, around the sixteenth-century Old Market Hall. Around sixty stalls of food, drink and crafts have been reported in recent years.
The 2026 dates
We have seen two sets of dates. One gives Friday 18 and Saturday 19 December 2026 — weekdays that match the 2026 calendar. The other gives “Friday 19th and Saturday 20th December”, which are the weekdays those dates fell on in 2025, so that one looks like last year’s information. We are showing 18–19 December as provisional until there is an official listing.
What to expect
Stalls of food, drink and crafts in the town square, close enough to Christmas to be useful for last-minute presents. Being so late in December, it has a different feel from the big markets that open in November: busier with locals finishing their shopping than with visitors.
Getting there
Shrewsbury station is about ten minutes’ walk from The Square, with trains from Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and mid-Wales. The town centre sits inside a loop of the River Severn and is compact and walkable; the park and ride sites are the easiest way in by car.
Make a day of it
Shrewsbury has more than six hundred listed buildings, a maze of medieval passages (locally called “shuts”), Shrewsbury Abbey and the castle. Charles Darwin was born in the town, and the Quarry park beside the river is a good place for a winter walk. Shrewsbury Prison runs its own seasonal events.
