Cardiff’s market spreads across five pedestrianised streets in the city centre — St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street, Hills Street and The Hayes — which the council rebrands the Festive Quarter for the season. It is resolutely a Welsh makers’ market rather than a German import: the 200-plus chalets are dominated by Welsh craft, food and drink producers, and the event has been running for over thirty years. Castle Quarter and the Victorian arcades are a couple of minutes away if the weather turns.
