Gunwharf Quays Christmas Market

Christmas on Portsmouth's waterfront — attractions announced, but no confirmed market dates yet.

Dates to be announced

The organiser has not yet confirmed this year's dates, and the dates circulating online are either estimates or carried over from a previous year — so we are not publishing them as fact. Individual attractions have been reported (a Bauble Bar from 15 November, an Elf Emporium from 21 November), but Gunwharf Quays has not published dates for a Christmas village or market, and its Christmas page currently returns "not found".

Last checked 3 October 2026. We are watching for the official announcement and will update this page. How we check

Address
Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth PO1 3TZ

Gunwharf Quays is Portsmouth’s waterfront shopping and dining quarter, built on the site of the old naval ordnance yard beside the harbour and the Spinnaker Tower. In recent Christmases it has run a festive village with an Alpine lodge bar, igloo-style seating and seasonal attractions.

Why there are no dates here yet

Some 2026 attractions have been reported — a Bauble Bar opening on 15 November and an immersive “Elf Emporium” theatre experience from 21 November, with a ticketed “Christmasville” — but Gunwharf Quays has not published dates for a Christmas market or village as a whole, and its Christmas web page currently returns “not found”. We will list confirmed dates as soon as they appear.

What to expect

Based on recent years: festive bars and food, family attractions and Christmas shopping in the outlet stores, rather than a traditional chalet market of handmade goods. Some attractions are ticketed.

Getting there

Portsmouth Harbour station is right beside Gunwharf Quays, with direct trains from London Waterloo. The Isle of Wight ferries leave from alongside.

Make a day of it

The Historic Dockyard, with HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and HMS Warrior, is a few minutes’ walk away. The Spinnaker Tower’s viewing decks look out over the harbour and the Solent, and Old Portsmouth’s streets lead down to the harbour mouth.

When will we know?

We are checking the official source weekly and will update this page the day the dates are confirmed. In the meantime, our What’s open? tool shows the markets that have confirmed dates for any day you’re travelling.

When the dates are confirmed, dress for standing still outdoors in the cold — see our guide to what to wear.
